Advice for parents

School placement enquiries

Does your child have an EHCP?

No – You will need to enquire at your child’s school to begin the process of an EHCP, this is something your school SENCO can support you with.

Yes – During an EHCP review, you can request a school placement change.

As a parent you can request an interim review at any point to discuss your child’s placement. This can be done through your school SENCo or by contacting your local authority SEND support team. We accept children from all surrounding local authorities providing we can meet needs.

Admissions to school can take place at any time during the course of the year. They are dealt with by the Local Authority in which you live through the consultation process. As a school we advise the local authority as to whether we can meet the needs of your child in our school. The local authority will then consider all parties views before coming to a decision over the educational provision for your child.

Prospective Parents/Carers are very welcome to visit school during the school term time. If you would like to book a visit please contact the school on 0115 9733710 or use our booking link to complete our enquiry form and a member of staff will contact you.

We appreciate the decision to consider the possibility of a special school maybe a difficult one. In all situations our Executive Headteacher, Trish Turner or a member of the Senior Leadership Team will discuss with you the individual needs of your child and any concerns that you may have. The Executive Headteacher or another member of the Senior Leadership Team will show you around school so that you can see at first-hand our children at work and at play.
